         to Table

Farm

Farm-to-table refers to the stages of the production of food: harvesting, storage, processing, packaging, sales, and consumption. Farm-to-table also refers to a movement concerned with producing food locally and delivering that food to local consumers..... That's what this tour is all about. We begin the tour by visiting the producers and finish at the table enjoying a bounty of wonderful local produce and fresh ingredients prepared by one of our local food heroes.

Nestled into the coastline, Katikati is the northern gateway to the Bay of Plenty.   From hills to harbour, it is no more than a 10 minute drive.  Sitting at the foothills of the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park and dipping its toes into the Tauranga harbour you will discover Katikati has an amazing array of artisan producers and wonderful food grown from our fertile land and pristine waters.

On the Farm to Table tour we visit a number of local food heroes and see the products at source. Discover the fresh seasonal produce of the district, meet the producers and hear their stories. These growers care about how food gets to our table and they strive to provide local, organic and sustainably raised food that is grown in harmony with nature.

See the lush countryside and enjoy the scenery as we traverse the rich and fertile lands of the Bay of Plenty, blanketed in kiwi fruit orchards, avacado farms and a multitude of fruits and vegetables. Perhaps meet a local farmer, orchardist, fisherman or beekeeper and learn about what they grow, how it’s harvested and prepared, tasting along the way.

On this bountiful foodie tour you will get at least 6 tastings which may include: Olive Oils, Avocados, artisan cheeses, smoked goods, beers, wines and ciders, manuka honey, berries and fruits,  to name a few. Depending on the day of the tour we may stop at the local farmers market to see the seasonal produce. We finish the tour with a wonderful 2 course meal including a glass of wine.
